What would you suggest for relaxation massage blend?
A relaxing aromatherapy massage is a beautiful gift for a friend or loved one. It’s a great way to let them feel that you care. It also helps to unwind from the stress of a long day at work, or to provide a peaceful, relaxing experience.
To give an aromatherapy massage, you need two basic kinds of oils. One is the essential oils, which are obtained by distillation from plants. Remember to use high quality, therapeutic grade oils, and not scented oils which have been artificially produced. The second is a carrier oil, in which the essential oil is mixed. You cannot apply Essential Oils directly to the body, as they are very strong when concentrated. You can use any pure vegetable-based oil as a carrier. This could be sweet almond oil, avocado oil, grape seed or jojoba oil. Don’t use mineral oil or baby oil, as these will block the pores of the skin.
As a basic rule of thumb, you need to use one or two drops of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier oil. You may mix more than one kind of essential oil into the blend, depending on the results that you’re expecting.
The most basic oils you can choose are lavender, geranium, or jasmine. All of these have relaxing properties. You may also choose sandalwood, rose or ylang ylang. There are a wide variety of relaxing and mood enhancing oils available, so it is a good idea to let the recipient of the massage choose what he or she likes. You may let them smell the oils before the massage to see if they might like it. Remember that aromatherapy, like all alternative medicinal treatments, can vary from person to person.
Once you’ve got the ingredients together, it is time for the massage. Ask your partner to lie face down on a mattress. Pour a little bit of the oil into your palms and rub them together. Now start with massaging your partner’s back. Use long, deep strokes and don’t be afraid to apply a little pressure. Next, if both partners are comfortable, you could massage the legs and feet and then the arms. You may then do the same for the front of the body.
Don’t use too much oil on the face when giving somebody a massage, as aromatherapy oils can be quite strong. If you do massage the face, then you should do it last. Don’t put any extra oil onto your hands; the oil that’s remaining on your hands should be enough.
